Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Shareware?

Shareware is software that is distributed free of charge. Customers are then able to use and evaluate the program before they purchase. The Personal Tennis Coach is distributed this way.

Downloading

The Personal Tennis Coach is available from our website. Your browser should prompt you to save the file to disk. Generally, a good place to put downloaded files from the internet would be a directory such as c:\downloads. The Personal Tennis Coach Shareware Kit is packaged as a ZIP file and will need to be extracted after it is downloaded. See the next section about ZIP files.

What Is A ZIP FILE?

Zip files are compressed files that may contain multiple files or directories. They provide an excellent means of transferring files over the internet. Once transferred, the contents must be extracted. The most common utilities are PKZIP or WINZIP.
The Personal Tennis Coach files are packaged and distributed as ZIP files. If you do not currently have a ZIP utility program, use the links below to download WinZip.

Installation

If you are a new user of The Personal Tennis Coach, download a shareware kit from our download page. Then extract the zipped files into a temporary directory, for example 'c:\temp\coach'. Once the files have been successfully extracted, run the 'setup.exe' file. This will install the program to the directory of your choice, the default is 'c:\coach'. Once installed, run the program using 'ptcwin.exe'.

The new program file should replace the previous 'ptcwin.exe'. Note: Win95/98/NT users should delete 'ptcwin.exe', which is the 16bit Win 3.x version. The new file name is ptcwin32.exe. Your icons will need to point to this new file.

Printing Problems

Some printing problems were reporting for versions earlier than 1.43
These have now been corrected. Please download the most current program if you have one of the earlier versions.
